Jars of Clay’s music is a blend of alternative and folk rock. They formed in the early 90s in Greenville, Illinois and got their “big break” in 1994 when they submitted a demo to and won a Gospel Music Association talent competition.
Jars of Clay’s first album was released in 1995 and featured the hit single “Flood.” They have since released more than ten studio albums, including the most recent. 2010’s “The Shelter,” and contributed to countless Christian music compilation albums. They have released more than 30 Christian radio singles.
Their seventh full-length album, “Redemption Songs,” is a collection of hymns and spiritual songs. The album won a Dove Award, which is a Christian music award, in 2006.
The band has also won four other Dove Awards as well as three Grammies awards for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album for “If I Left the Zoo,” “The Eleventh Hour,” and “The Long Fall Back to Earth.”
Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, May 19 at the Sunnyside Tesoro in Idaho Falls, The Bannock Alternative on Main St. in Pocatello and online at www.redtieconcerts.com for $25 plus applicable fees.
